A couple people asked me about the song “My God”, which we sang yesterday. A member of the congregation brought the song to my attention with Spotify link.
The song was not registered with CCLI, which means I had to hunt down the copyright holder and obtain permission to use the song in our services.
The writer is Josh McCabe with a band called Caves. They are from Winnipeg (I think it was Winnipeg – somewhere in the Great White North anyhow), and as far as I know, are not signed with any record label. Josh was clearly excited to learn that a church in Texas wanted to use his song, and gladly granted us permission to use it.
If you would like to listen to the original recording by Caves, here are some links. If you like their music, I am sure that it would mean a lot to them to get a “like” on whatever platform you listen, or even a purchase of the song/album.
